Daan DeBrouckere will present on "Content Types: How & why to leverage them in SharePoint lists & libraries"
Content types are a new feature introduced in Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0. Content types are designed to help users organize their SharePoint content in a meaningful way. Content types enable you to manage the metadata and behaviors of a document (or other item) in a centralized, reusable way so that you can do useful things with the document, for example, by assigning metadata (or columns) automatically or assigning a workflow to the document. Our real-world experience is that companies are not leveraging the full power of content types, in part because they are just starting to understand the powerful results they could achieve, and in part because the existing documentation could be improved. Daan will demonstrate real-world examples to illustrate the power of content types, and some techniques on how to achieve these results.
Daan DeBrouckere is the executive leading the SharePoint consulting practice at Crowe Horwath LLP. He has led SharePoint engagements covering basic installation/configuration, strategy, governance, planning, migration and custom business-critical solutions.
